Architect Phil Wegman: Volunteered at Camp Brave Heart

For the past 20 years, architect Phil Wegman has been dedicating his time to a very special cause: Camp Brave Heart. This annual event, held at the Circle F Dude Ranch in Lake Wales, provides bereavement counseling and a weekend of fun outdoor activities for children who have lost a loved one. As a volunteer cabin leader, Phil has been an integral part of the camp, and one of only two people who have been lucky enough to serve for all 20 years.

Phil's role at Camp Brave Heart involves mentoring eight boys, aged 10 and 11, in the Redwoods Cabin, alongside three other volunteer counselors. The camp provides a much-needed escape for children who are dealing with the loss of a loved one, offering a space for them to express their grief and connect with others who are going through a similar experience. Through activities such as horseback riding, swimming, and campfires, the children are able to have fun and build lasting friendships.

Camp Brave Heart is a free community service event provided by Good Shepherd Hospice, a subsidiary of Chapters Health System. The camp relies heavily on volunteers like Phil to make it a success, and their commitment and dedication are truly appreciated by all involved.

Phil's involvement with Camp Brave Heart is a testament to his generous spirit and his desire to make a difference in the lives of others. As an architect, Phil is no stranger to the importance of creating spaces that support well-being and healing, and his work at Camp Brave Heart is an extension of this philosophy.

We are proud to have Phil Wegman as part of our community, and we thank him for his ongoing commitment to Camp Brave Heart. His dedication and leadership serve as a model for all of us, reminding us of the power of volunteering and the importance of giving back.
